MSU Billings selects Vice Chancellor for Student Access & Success

Kimberly Hayworth, Ph.D. will begin role on June 3

MSU BILLINGS NEWS—Montana State University Billings is pleased to announce that Kimberly Hayworth, Ph.D. has been selected as Vice Chancellor for Student Access and Success. She will assume her new role on June 3.

Hayworth is currently Vice President for Student Development and Success (SDS) and Executive Director for University Retention and Persistence at Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan.

"I am excited for Kim to join our team," said Chancellor Dan Edelman. "She has a passion for student success and presented creative ideas for improving student recruitment and retention at MSU Billings."

Hayworth has a Doctorate of Philosophy of Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University, and a M.B.A. and B.A. in Communications and Business from Spring Arbor University.

Hayworth has a long career at Spring Arbor University starting out as an Admissions Representative and advancing to roles as Assistant Director of Admissions, Director of Career Services, Director of New Student Orientation, Director of Academic Advising, Director of Retention, Associate Dean of Students, Associate Vice President for SDS, before advancing to her current role.

Hayworth and her spouse share a love of the outdoors and have been regular visitors to Montana for 12 years.

The Vice Chancellor for Student Access and Success position was advertised in the Chronicle of Higher Education, Higher Ed Jobs, and Job Service. The search committee reviewed and evaluated 27 candidates. Seven were selected for WebEx/phone interviews, and three finalists progressed to on-campus interviews.

The search committee was comprised of Heather Thompson-Bahm, Trevor Belnap, Laura Gittings-Carlson, Dr. John Dorr, Dawn Githens, Chase Greenfield, Bill Kennedy, Aaron Like, Kelly McCoy, Joseph McGeshick, Nate Millward, Krista Montague, Shannon Wilcox, Darrel Williams, and Emily Williamson. The co-chairs for the search committee were: Paul Foster and Kaelen Shay (student).
