MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — MSU Billings’ Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry (YEP) has been selected as one recipient of this year’s Run! Turkey Run! 5K race proceeds. This is the seventh annual race which is held on Thanksgiving Day. YEP is one of four recipients, selected by a committee, to receive the race proceeds along with Family Service, Meals on Wheels, and the Backpack Meals Program.

This is a great opportunity for MSUB and the YEP to be promoted in the community. The additional funding will allow MSUB and the YEP to better serve the students that visit the pantry.

Mission of the Race: Thanksgiving Day is an important reminder to all to reflect on our family, health, and well-being.  Thanksgiving is also a time to think about others in our community, especially those in need.  The Run! Turkey Run! 5K and Street Mile were created to help put an end to hunger in our community. More information on the race can be found at https://www.facebook.com/Run-Turkey-Run-194496093925039/ or http://runturkeyrun.org/.

Mission of the YEP: The Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry (YEP) is an emergency food pantry designed to provide students with emergency food and hygiene supplies, connect students to community and campus resources, and identify and address any hunger and food insecurities that may exist among the student population at MSU Billings.  Services are available to all registered students.  Students can receive YEP food supplies three times per semester, but are welcome to visit YEP for resource information at any time.

The Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry has provided over 2,000 non-perishable food items to students that were in need since opening in Fall 2016.
