Week in Review
For the second week in a row, the Yellowjackets
split the win/loss column. MSUB picked up a 2-1 win over
Division II rival University of Mary Friday, before dropping a
2-0 non-conference decision to Westminster College in a neutral
game on Sunday.
Sam
Charles (Weymouth, England) scored just 40 seconds into the
contest, making it the fastest goal from the start of a game in
school history. The previous record of 51 seconds was set
by Dustin Kono back in 2005. Already holding the
record for most goals scored in a single season, Charles's goal
in the game marked his 18th of the season.
The Marauders knotted the game just before
halftime as Casey Harrod found the net. The Jackets'
Jeremy DeHerrera (Kalispell, Mont.) broke the tie in the
64th minute to score the game winner. The goal,
DeHerrera's second of the season, came after he picked up the
loose ball following a free-kick from his teammate
Greg
McKeever (Kirkland, Wash.).
The Yellowjackets hammered the Marauders,
outshooting them 28-8 and held a 14-2 shots on goal advantage in
the game. Goalkeeper
Sander Tollefson (Missoula, Mont.) made one save in the
game, while Kyle Kovack stopped 12 for Mary.
In Sunday's match up against Westminster, the
Yellowjackets held control of the game statistically, but were
unable to capitalize on their scoring chances.
The Griffins used a goal in each half to blank
the Yellowjackets. Crimson Turner scored the game winner
for Westminster at the 25:51 mark as his shot deflected off a
Yellowjacket defender into the net. Sean Aslett scored the
Griffins' insurance goal in the 68th minute.
Five different Yellowjackets took shots on goal
in the game, forcing Westminster's Kimball Parker to make five
saves. Overall MSUB outshot the Griffins 10-9 with a 5-3
shots on goal advantage.

Saturday's game against Jamestown College
represents Senior Day for five Yellowjacket players.
Seniors Greg McKeever (Kirkland, Wash.), Chris Cornish (Surrey,
England), Matt D'Hont (Rapid City, S.D.), Colby Vossler
(Cheyenne, Wyo.), and Josh Hernandez (Palmdale, Calif.) will be
honored to prior to kickoff.
Record Watch/Notables:
The Yellowjackets
have had a record-breaking season in every sense of the word
already, but still have some attainable milestones and notable
statistics...the Yellowjackets are a perfect 6-0 at home this
season with two home games remaining...the Jackets are just
seven goals shy of tying the
school record of 39 goals scored in a single season....averaging
2.13 goals per game through the first 15 games of the season, the Yellowjackets will need to score
2.33
goals per game to tie the record set back in 2001...although the
number of goals needed per game exceeds the current pace, two of
the three remaining games for the Yellowjackes are against NAIA
schools who have a combined record of 1-19-1. The lone win
was between the two teams the Jackets will face, making the
school record well within reach...the Yellowjacket moved up one
spot from last week's eighth position ranking in the NSCAA to
seventh...the Yellowjackets are in a race to make its first ever
trip to the NCAA Tournament...a win against Seattle Pacific on
Monday will keep the Jackets in the hunt, while a loss will be
devastating to the team's chances.
GNAC PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK:
Dustin Allbery,
Seattle (M, 5-10, 175, Sr., Spokane, WA – SFCC) had a pair of
assists in the Redhawks’ 2-1 win over Seattle Pacific. He leads

GNAC history with 15 career assists.

City, WA – Mount Si) scored two of the Vikings’ five goals in
wins over Hawaii Pacific and Hawaii Hilo as WWU ran its win
streak to eight, its longest in 17 years. Bardsley ranks second
in the conference in scoring with 22 points and his nine goals
is a WWU freshman school record. . . Jason Cascio,
Seattle (F, 5-11, 180, Sr., Gilbert, AZ – Hamilton) was the
beneficiary of Allbery’s two assists as the Redhawks ran their
win streak to seven games. Cascio ranks sixth in GNAC history
with 25 career goals, including seven this season. He is
seventh on the GNAC charts in career points with 58 points.
AROUND THE GNAC:

and ran his scoreless streak to 474 minutes, the third longest
in GNAC history, before surrendering a goal with 12 seconds
remaining in Friday’s 3-1 win over Hawaii Hilo. . .Colin Kosco
scored Seattle Pacific’s goal which tied up the game at 1-1 in
the second half in their loss to Seattle before 730 fans at

Upcoming Opponents
Jamestown College (webpage) -
Jamestown College, an NAIA program from North Dakota, brings a
0-10-1 record to Billings this weekend. This will be the
first meeting ever between the Yellowjackets and Jimmies.
Jamestown's only non-loss this season came back on September
9th when they posted a 0-0 double overtime tie against
Morningside College. The Jimmies' last game resulted in in
a 3-2 overtime loss against Dakota County Tech College.
The Jimmies have scored seven goals this season while
allowing their opponents 27. No other stats are available.
All-time vs. MSUB: 0-0-0
This is the first meeting between the two teams.
Seattle Pacific University (webpage) -
Seattle Pacific has had a roller coaster of a season posting a
6-3-5 overall record. The Falcons have played just three
conference games and are 1-1-1 ranking them behind MSUB,
Seattle, and Western Washington in the league standings.
Falling 2-1 against GNAC powerhouse Seattle over the weekend,
the Falcons will use games against Saint Martin's and Western
Washington this week to try and get back on track. Ranked
fourth in the most recent NSCAA Far West Region poll, the
Falcons are making a push to reach the NCAA Tournament.
The Yellowjackets and Falcons battled to a 1-1 double
overtime time back on September 20th in Seattle. Monday's
trip will mark the first time Seattle Pacific has ever traveled
to Billings for men's soccer. The game could prove to be
an NCAA deal-breaker for Seattle should the Yellowjackets win.
The Falcons'Jeff Hallenbeck leads the team in scoring with
six goals and five assists for 17 points. James Coggan has
proved efficient for Seattle Pacific scoring five goals and six
assists. Seven other Falcons have scored goals.
Kellen Rosten ranks fourth in the GNAC with a 0.82 goals against
average, allowing 12 goals all season. Rosten is second in
the conference standings for saves, tackling 60. Rosten
also has four shutouts this season.
As a team Seattle Pacific has outscored their opponents 23-13
but have surprisingly had 160 shots to their opponents 187.
All-time vs. MSUB: Seattle Pacific leads the series
5-0-1
These two teams last met September 20, 2007
where the game resulted in a 1-1 tie in Seattle.
