Yellowjacket Men’s Golf Leads Carroll College Invitational
HELENA, Mont. – The Montana State Billings men’s golf team leads the 2009 Carroll College Invitational by five strokes over Rocky Mountain College heading into the final day of the tournament. MSUB tallied a 292 team score on Monday, while the Bears tallied a 297.
“The boys played well, and I am looking forward to seeing how we play with the lead,” head coach Shawn O’Brien said. “This will give us a good look at what we have to look forward to this year. I thought Jeff Allen and Travis Gates played well today playing as our one and two golfers."
Individually, Connor McCracken of Lewis-Clark State and Marcus Segerstrom of Rocky lead the field after carding rounds of 70. Jeff Allen of MSUB is third with a 71, followed by teammates Travis Gates with a 72 and Jake Harr with a 73. K.C. Kindle carded a 76 and Tyler Nicholas fired a 78. Playing unattached, MSUB’s Chris Richter is three strokes off the lead after firing a 73.
There was some weather on Monday in the Helena area, so the field will finish the second and third rounds on Tuesday.
