Luke Wheeler is in his third season as the Yellowjacket baseball team's assistant coach in 2008-2009.
Wheeler's primary responsibilities include coaching the infielders and hitters.
Prior to coming to MSUB, Luke spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo., one season at National American University in Rapid City, S.D., and one season as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma Christian University. While at OC, he received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Education.
Wheeler's playing experiences include two years at Seward County Community College. He then signed and played one year at the University of Southern Mississippi. After one year, he transferred to Oklahoma Christian University and finished his senior season.
Yellowjacket head coach Chris Brown says of Wheeler, “He is a Rapid City, S.D., guy that is very familiar with this area and surrounding states. He was an integral part of the success that the Northeastern Junior College program has had over the last four years. He has stepped right in and made an immediate impact.”
Luke and his wife Angie, reside in Laurel, Mont., and just had their first child (Lil) in January.
