Jacket Softball Goes 2-1 in Colorado
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Montana State
Billings softball team won two of three games on Saturday at the
Triple Crown Fall Classic. The Yellowjackets picked up wins
against Western Nebraska CC and Metro State before falling to
NCAA Division I Colorado State.
The Yellowjackets downed Western Nebraska
8-5 in their tourney opener. Lindsey Trenary (Helena) picked up
the win in two innings of relief work. She struck out five
batters in those two innings. Stephanie Rinehart (Gig Harbor,
Wash.) and Jessica Frank (Great Falls) each went 2-for-3 with
two RBIs. Jenna Haacke (Billings) was also 2-for-3, driving in
three RBIs.
The Jackets prevailed in a slugfest with
Metro State, winning 14-12. Lisa Moore (Bakersfield, Calif.)
picked up the win. She helped her own cause at the plate, going
3-for-3 with two RBIs. Terina Stacks (Washougal, Wash.) was
3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Shay Oberg (Billings) was
3-for-4 and scored twice.
The Jackets’ lone loss was a 5-0 decision
to Colorado State. Rebekah Tsatsa (Eagle, ID) took the loss
despite a strong effort in the circle. She allowed four hits
and one run in five innings against the D-I Rams before leaving
the game with an injury. MSUB managed just two hits in the
game.
The Yellowjackets will play three games to
close out the tourney on Sunday. So far during the fall season
MSUB is 7-1. |
