NAMPA, Idaho – Both Montana State Billings
cross country teams finished 10th at Saturday’s Great Northwest
Athletic Conference Championships. Diana Stanley (Miles City)
was the Lady Jackets’ top finisher in 31st place. Ryan Ceynar
(Glendive) paced the Yellowjacket men with a 47th place
showing.
Stanley covered the 6K course in 23:42.
Mykel Ler (Sidney) finished 41st in 24:09, followed by Sarah
Jackson (Bozeman) in 48th in 24:20, Katie Thiel (Powell, Wyo.)
in 58th in 24:38, and Cierra Dornfeld (Woodbury, Minn.) in 60th
in 24:41. Other runners competing for MSUB were Malori Woodford
(Mosby) in 64th in 24:50, Morgan Streeter (Ryegate) in 67th in
25:00, Colleen Dalimata (Columbia Falls) in 71st in 25:06, Kym
Island (Columbia Falls) in 83rd in 26:59, and Erin Gannon
(Yankton, S.D.) in 86th in 27:20.
The women’s individual race was won by
Jessica Pixler of Seattle Pacific University with a time of
20:53. SPU also captured the women’s team title, easily
outpacing second place Western Oregon 24-99.
Ceynar was the only Yellowjacket men’s
runner to finish in the top 50, posting a 27:17 on the 8K
course. The Jackets’ other scoring runners were Jarred Rensvold
(Wolf Point) in 64th place with a time of 28:07, Kelley Miller
(Glendive) in 77th in 30:01, James Hopkins (Helena) in 79th in
32:26, and Joe Houghton (Billings) in 81st in 34:52.
Western Washington won the men’s team
title, edging Western Oregon 33-67. John Riak of Saint Martin’s
won top individual honors with a time of 24:56.
The Yellowjackets will host their annual
Yellowjacket Invitational and Fun Run on Oct. 27 at Norm
Schoenthal Island. The public fun run starts at 9 a.m. followed
by the men’s and women’s collegiate races. |
