Jackets’ Bennett Earns Regional Honor
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings
senior Abby Bennett has been named to the 2007 Daktronics Far
West Region Second Team. The Daktronics all-region teams are
voted on by sports information directors in the region.
Bennett is a senior defender from
Livingston, Mont. She played in 73 career games as a
Yellowjacket, tying for third all-time in school history.
During Bennett’s four seasons, the
Yellowjackets were a combined 45-25-7, the best four-year record
during any period in the program’s history. That stretch
included three-straight winning campaigns from 2004 to 2006.
In terms of goals against average, Bennett
played on the best defensive teams in school history in 2004,
2005 and 2006. Last year the Jackets posted a school-record
0.77 goals against average, which ranked 29th in the nation for
the season. This season the Jackets had a 1.53 goals against
average, giving MSUB a combined GAA of 1.04 during Bennett’s
four seasons.
The Great Northwest Athletic Conference was
represented by five players on the all-region first team and six
players on the second team. The Daktronics Far West Region
Player of the Year was Sarah Martinez of Seattle Pacific.
