Cazemier Named to CoSIDA Academic Team
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings
volleyball player Alicia Cazemier was named to the ESPN The
Magazine Academic All-District VII College Division Volleyball
First Team on Thursday. The honor is awarded by the College
Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Cazemier is a
senior middle blocker from Vauxhall, Alberta.
Cazemier was an All-District VII third team
selection the last two years. By earning first team honors this
year, she will advance to the national ballot for Academic
All-America.
A four-year starter for the Yellowjackets,
Cazemier has broken numerous school records on the court.
Entering her final two matches of the season, she holds school
career records for kills, total blocks, solo blocks, block
assists, blocks average, and hitting percentage. She also ranks
in the top 10 in school history for career service aces, kills
average, and games played. In addition to her career records,
Cazemier has 26 entries in the MSU Billings single season record
books. In the classroom, Cazemier has a 3.74 cumulative grade
point average as a biology major and has been a three-time
academic all-conference selection.
Cazemier will play her final two home games
at Alterowitz Gymnasium this weekend. The Yellowjackets host
Seattle Pacific on Thursday and Northwest Nazarene on Saturday.
Saturday will be Senior Night. Both matches start at 7 p.m.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America program
divides colleges and universities into eight districts. Schools
from Montana are part of District VII, which also includes
Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South
Dakota, Wyoming, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Nominees for the
All-District VII Volleyball Team could come from any Division
II, Division III, or NAIA school in any of those states or
provinces. |
