Results
RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Montana State
Billings men’s and women’s track and field teams opened the 2008
outdoor campaign with a bang. Freshmen Lexi Halvorson and
Kacie Vanderloos each had big events and Sarah Jackson had the
lone win in for MSUB in the 800 meters on the women's side and
senior Richie Pemberton won the 5000 meters for the men.
Halvorson placed second in the discus with
a Great Northwest Athletic Conference season-best toss of 140-3.
Her mark was just 10 inches short of the provisional national
qualifying standard in the discus. In addition to
Halvorson, Vanderloos placed fifth in the shot put. Her
mark of 38-2 ½ ranks second in the conference.
Jackson had the lone win on the women’s
side for the Yellowjackets as she won the 800 meters with a time
of 2:25.23.
On the men’s side, Pemberton won the 5000
meters in a time of 16:38.89. He also was runner-up in the
steeplechase with a time of 9:53.21 ranking him third in the
spring in the GNAC. In addition, freshman Jade Haynie
finished second in the javelin with a throw of 170-6.
The Yellowjackets head to the Al Manuel
Invitational at the University of Montana next Friday and
Saturday. |
