Scott and Schlender Earn Conference Weekly
Honors
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings
junior pitcher Steve Scott was named Great Northwest Athletic
Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week and junior Jonathan Schlender
was named GNAC Player of the Week, the conference office
announced Monday.
Scott, a native of Billings earned his
second weekly honor of the season as he and Alex VanOeveren of
Northwest Nazarene split the award this week. Scott and
VanOeveren traded four-hitters as the Yellowjackets and
Crusaders split a doubleheader Saturday. Scott allowed
just one run, walked two and had two strikeouts in MSUB’s 6-1
win. Earlier in the season, Scott also earned co-Pitcher
of the Week honors as he tied the GNAC single-game record for
strikeouts with 15 in a 4-3 victory over Mary in Arizona on Mar.

Schlender, a native of Bozeman, earns
Player of the Week honors for the first time this season as he
went 10 of 22 for the week and drove in seven runs.
Schlender helped lead the Jackets to a 5-2 record this past
week, including a three-game sweep of Colorado Christian and a
four-game split with Northwest Nazarene. He scored eight
runs, walked twice and was hit by a pitch four times while
compiling a .571 on-base percentage. Against NNU, he went
7 of 16 and drove in five runs. Schlender tied the GNAC
single record with three doubles in the opener of the series.
The Yellowjackets host Dickinson State
Wednesday in a doubleheader at Pirtz field beginning at 2 p.m.
and will open the home conference series against Western Oregon
this weekend beginning with a doubleheader against the Wolves on
Saturday at 1 p.m. at Pirtz Field. |
