LACEY, Wash. – Rebekah Tsatsa and Lisa Moore
combined for a pair of shutouts and held Saint Martin’s to just
seven hits in a doubleheader road sweep Sunday afternoon, 11-0,
4-0. With the
victories, the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets remain one
game back of league leaders Western Oregon and Seattle.
The Yellowjackets (22-19, 11-7 GNAC), totaled
19 hits in the two games and 15 runs, including two home runs
and four doubles.
Leslie Davis went 4 for 6 with two doubles, a home run and two
RBI, while Stephanie Gosselin went 3 of 7 with a home run and
five RBI.
Tsatsa (10-7) pitched a three-hit shutout,
walking one and striking out five in the opener.
The Jackets scored twice in the first on a two-run home
run by Davis and then broke the game open with four runs in the
fourth and five in the fifth for an 11-0 victory.
Kelly Parsons drove in four of the runs with
two coming on a single in the fourth and two more in the fifth
with a double. Five
players all had two hits for the Jackets.
Defense was the name of the game in the
nightcap as both teams battled to a 0-0 draw through seven
innings. In the
eighth, the Jackets plated four runs courtesy of a RBI single by
Terina Stacks and athree-run home run by Gosselin for a the 4-0
victory.
Moore (9-5) was masterful in the game as
she went seven innings allowing three hits, two walks and she
fanned eight.
Tsatsa pitched the ninth inning and allowed one hit.
The Yellowjackets return home for the
remainder of the regular season, beginning a nine-game homestand
against Seattle University Thursday at 3 p.m. in a key
conference doubleheader. |
