Softball Sweeps
Twinbill at Great Falls
GREAT FALLS, Mont. -
Six home runs highlighted a doubleheader sweep at Great Falls
Sunday afternoon as the Montana State Billings softball team won
9-0 and 11-3. The
Yellowjackets improve to 15-16 on the year.
MSUB opened the first game with three runs in
the first inning on a solo home run by Jessica Frank, a RBI
single by Leslie Davis and Crystal Bentley scored on an error.
In the third, Davis hit the second home run of the game
another solo shot for a 4-0 lead.
The Yellowjackets scored two more runs in the fourth and
Frank recorded her second home run of the game, a two run shot,
in the fifth for an 8-0 lead.
Moments later, Shay Oberg ended the game with a solo home
run for a 9-0 victory.
In the nightcap, the Jackets scored three
runs again in the first inning.
This time it came on three RBI singles.
Amanda Schaapveld scored in the second for a 4-0
advantage.
The Jackets added another run in the fourth,
but the Argos go on the board with three runs in the bottom of
the inning highlighted by a two run home run from Lindsey Cline
for a 5-3 lead.
MSUB didn't
sweat as Megan Samuels, Kelly Parsons and Frank each had RBIs to
push the lead to 8-3 in the fifth.
Terina Stacks and Samuels each had home runs in the sixth
for an 11-3 score and the game was stopped due to the
mercy rule.
The Yellowjackets return to action Thursday at Central
Washington and Friday and Saturday at Northwest Nazarene. |
