Lady Jackets Pull Out Two Wins at
Leadoff Classic

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Montana State Billings
women’s softball team closed out pool play with a 9-7 win over
Cal State San Bernardino at the Schutt Sports Division II
Leadoff Classic on Friday. The win was vindication after the
Lady Jackets dropped a 10-6 decision to San Bernardino on
Thursday. MSUB played Great Northwest Athletic Conference
opponent Central Washington in the late game Friday to begin
bracket play. The Lady Jackets’ Leslie Davis (Federal Way, Wash.) hit a two-run homerun to put the Wildcats
away 4-3 in seven innings.
In Friday’s early game against San
Bernardino, the Jackets were down 3-0 after two innings.
Freshman Kelly Parsons (Seattle, Wash.) ignited the offense with a
two-run homerun in the third inning. The Jackets went on to
score four runs in the third to take the permanent lead. The
team added three runs in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Terina Stacks (Washougal, Wash.) pitched 5 1/3 innings before turning the
mound over to Lindsey
Trenary (Helena). Trenary picked up the save.
In Friday’s late game, Rebekah
Tsatsa (Eagle, Idaho) earned the win against Central
Washington tossing all seven innings in earning the quarterfinal
win.
The Yellowjackets continue bracket play
taking on Western Washington University on Saturday. Game time
is slated for 2 p.m. MST. |
