Western Washington Sweeps Yellowjackets to Open Conference Play

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington posted
a 6-0 victory and a 2-1 extra-inning decision over Montana State
Billings Thursday afternoon to open Great Northwest Athletic
Conference play.
With the losses, the Yellowjackets fall to 5-9 on the year and
0-2 in conference play.
WWU improves to 11-4 and 2-0 in the GNAC.
In the opener, the Vikings posted a 6-0
victory, holding the Yellowjackets to just two hits in the game.
Rebekah Tsatsa took the loss (3-3) going three and two
thirds, allowing seven hits, four runs – three earned, three
walks and three strikeouts.
MSUB had hits from Terina Stacks and Alyssa
Frank in the game.
The Yellowjackets opened game two with one
run in the second on a RBI single by Lisa Moore.
WWU tied the game in the fifth with a double and a ground
out RBI.
The Jackets had a chance to take the lead in the top of the
eighth, putting two runners on base but were unable to get
anything across.
WWU roped a RBI double in the bottom of the inning to win the
game.
Moore went the distance for the Yellowjackets
on the mound, allowing seven hits, two earned runs, four walks
and four strikeouts.
The teams will conclude the series tomorrow with a
doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. PST. |
