Rensvold Named Co-Great Northwest Athletic Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year
SPOKANE, Wash. – Montana State Billings senior track and field standout Jarred Rensvold was named Co-Great Northwest Athletic Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year as announced by the conference office Thursday.
The awards are voted on by the league’s athletic directors.
Rensvold, a native of Wolf Point, Mont., joins Western Washington track athlete, Keith Lemay, as the male scholar-athlete winners. Northwest Nazarene’s Amanda (Merrell) Peters won the award on the women’s side.
Rensvold, a biology major and chemistry minor, has compiled a 3.98 grade point average at MSUB and has been named to the honor roll eight times while carrying an average course load of over 17 credits per semester.
He recently was awarded a $7,500 NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship as he was the third Yellowjacket to win the award in school history. Of the 29 winners during the fall from all three divisions, only two, including Rensvold, are at Division II schools. In addition, 12 of the 29 were from Division II or Division III schools. Rensvold graduated Magna Cum Laude last month.
During his career at MSUB, he was captain on both the Yellowjacket cross country (2006, 2007) and track and field teams (2008). He was tabbed team Most Valuable Player in cross country his junior and senior seasons and was a two-time Heartland Conference all-conference selection, prior to MSUB joining the GNAC this fall.
