Lehman Tabbed RMAC
Women’s Tennis Player of the Year;
Peach Named Coach of the Year

KEARNEY, Neb. – The Montana State Billings
women’s tennis team took home some hardware before the
conference championship even began as senior Heidi Lehman was
named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women’s tennis Player
of the Year and head coach Jerry Peach was tabbed women’s Coach
of the Year. In addition, four Yellowajackets made the
all-conference team, including three on the first team.
Lehman, a senior from Billings, was named
the first team at the number one position. She finished
the regular season with an 8-5 record in singles and a perfect
6-0 record in league play. Junior Anne-Sophie Tredet also earned
first team honors at the number two position. Tredet
compiled a 9-4 record overall and also went undefeated in
conference play at 6-0. Victoria Fernandez, a junior, also
earned first team honors at the number five slot. She had
a 6-6 record overall and a 5-0 mark in conference play.
Conference preseason Player of the Year,
Teri Mayeda of Mesa State was named to the second team at the
number one position and so was MSUB’s Marta Borges at the number
three slot. Borges, a senior, had a 3-9 record overall,
but played well in conference play with a 3-2 record.
The top-seeded Yellowjackets begin the
conference tournament against the fourth-seeded host
Nebraska-Kearney tomorrow at 1 p.m. as the match was pushed back
due to inclement weather in Kearney. The Yellowjackets
defeated UNK 8-1 earlier in the year. The winner will
advance to Sunday’s championship match against the winner of
Mesa State vs. Western New Mexico with the automatic bid to the
NCAA tournament on the line. |
