Three Yellowjackets Named Honorable Mention
NSCAA/Adidas Scholar All-West Region
BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State Billings
women’s soccer team received more postseason accolades as three
players were named NSCAA/adidas Scholar-All West Region
Honorable Mention. Senior Abby Bennett, along with juniors Sarah Gress and Melissa
Carlson were named to the 21-member team.
MSUB is the only Great Northwest Athletic Conference member to
have student-athletes named to the NSCAA/adidas Scholar Athlete All-West
Region Team. In
addition, this is the second consecutive year that MSUB has had
players earn this distinguished honor. Former Yellowjacket and current assistant coach Ally
Taylor/Stroup was a second team selection and former Jacket
Megan Plank was named to the third team in 2006.
Bennett, a native of Livingston, Mont., held
a 3.88 grade-point average this past fall and has a 3.66
cumulative GPA in health and human performance. She played and started in 19 games in 2007, helping the
Yellowjacket defense to three shutouts during the year and she
scored one goal.
Gress, originally from Boise, Idaho, and a
2007 co-captain, carried a 3.88 GPA in environmental studies and
has a 3.66 cumulative average. She also helped lead the Yellowjacket defense playing in
all 20 games and tallying one assist.
Renton, Wash., native Melissa Carlson earned a 3.94 GPA in the
fall and carries a 3.91 cumulative GPA in health and human
performance. Carlson
played in all 20 games and started 17, while recording three
assists. |
