Carvery used a pair of goals to lift the Clan to a 2-0 shutout
win over the Montana State University Billings men’s soccer team
Saturday in Burnaby, British Columbia. The loss drops the
Yellowjackets to 9-3-1 overall, while Simon Fraser, ranked No. 9
in the NAIA, improved to 10-1-1.
The Clan jumped out to the quick 1-0 lead
after a penalty kick goal scored at the 17:44 mark of the first
half. The goal, Carvery’s third of the season, turned out to be
the eventual game-winner. The Clan struck again at the midpoint
of the second half as Carvery scored an unassisted goal in the
65th minute.
The Yellowjackets were outshot 12-2 in the
game with the Clan holding a 4-0 shots on goal advantage. Sander
Tollefson (Missoula) made two saves in goal while his
teammate, and GNAC leading-scorer, Sam Charles (Weymouth, England) made both of the Jackets’ shots in the game.
The Yellowjackets travel to University of
Mary (3-7-1) for a non-conference game Friday, October 12th.
The Jackets defeated Mary 5-0 earlier in the season in
Billings. Following the contest against the Marauders, the
Jackets will face Westminster (9-4-0) in a neutral game on
Sunday, October 14th. |
