a school-record eight wins to improve to 8-2-1 on the season.
The Cougars remain winless at 0-10-0.

The Yellowjackets evened the game in the 26th minute. Jarred Weisen (Great Falls) caromed a shot off the post only
to have Justin Hoskins (Billings) slide into the net with the ball,
tying the game at one apiece. Weisen picked up the assist, his
first of three on the day.
A foul in the Cougars’ box set up a penalty
kick for Sam
Charles (Weymouth, England) to score the go-ahead goal.
Finding the net in the 40th minute, Charles remains
perfect in penalty goals at 3-3. With just four ticks on the
first half clock remaining, Chris Andre (Billings) scored his fourth goal of the season off a
Yellowjacket rebound to give MSUB a two-goal lead.
As the skies over Billings opened up
dropping rain, the Jackets held control of the ball and added
two more goals to their tally in the second half. Jeremy DeHerrera (Kalispell) scored his first goal of the
season in the 52nd minute followed by Charles’ second
goal of the game in the 56th minute.
The Jackets outshot the Cougars 23-5 with a
12-2 shots on goal advantage. The Cougars’ Jon Wilkins tackled
seven saves in the game, while three different Yellowjacket
keepers saw time in goal. Dylan
Malloy (Butte) made the lone save in the game for MSUB.
The Yellowjackets have a short break before
they head back to Washington State for a conference game against
Saint Martin’s University (2-9-0, 0-2-0) on Thursday, October
4. The Jackets defeated the Saints 2-0 earlier in the season in
Billings. Following Thursday’s GNAC contest, MSUB heads to
Canada for a game against NAIA opponent Simon Fraser University
(8-1-1). The game is scheduled for Saturday, October 6 in
Burnaby, British Columbia. |
