After a scoreless first
half the Yellowjackets matched their strong defense striking
twice in the final 45 minutes of play. The Jackets’ Sam
Charles (Weymouth, England) scored the eventual
game-winning goal on a pass from teammate Jeremy DeHerrera (Kalispell, Mont.) early in the second
half before Kyle
Moriarty (Bozeman, Mont.), in his first collegiate
appearance, drew a penalty setting up Charles to score his
second goal of the game and third of the season to ice
back-to-back wins for the Jackets.
For just the fifth time in
the program’s history, the Yellowjackets have put together
three consecutive wins. The Jackets wrapped up the 2006
season with a 1-0 win over Texas A&M-Permian Basin and with
two wins so far this season, the Jackets have tallied three
straight shutouts as well.
The Yellowjackets host
University of Great Falls Saturday, September 1 to open the
season at home. The Argo’s (0-2) are in their inaugural
season and will play a game against Wenatchee Valley
Community College before making the trip to Billings.
Kickoff against UGF is 1:00 p.m. at the College of
Technology. |
