Golf in 3rd after First Round of GNAC Championships
First Round
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Montana State Billings
men’s golf team sits in third-place after the first round of the
2008 Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships Monday at
par 72, 6,255-yard Indian Canyon Golf Club. Surprising Saint Martin’s holds a three-shot lead over
Western Washington in the four-team event.
SMU’s Hiro Nezu and John Eisenstrout carded a
65 and 70, respectively to lead the Saints to a 285 team score. WWU’s Jake Koppenberg and Thomas Jun fired scores of 69
and 71 for second and fourth-place, respectively, after the
first round.
MSUB’s Tyler Nicholas and Jason Kinsey are
fifth and sixth, respectively, after shooting a 72 and a 73. Michael Konrad and Mike Watson are tied for 10th after each carded a 76. Jeff Allen is tied for 14th with a 79. The Jackets entered the clubhouse with a 297 team score. Northwest Nazarene is fourth with a 332 team score.
The tournament will conclude Tuesday with
another 18-hole round. Two rounds were scheduled to be played Monday, but
overnight snow in the Spokane area forced cancellations of
Monday’s morning round.
