Yellowjacket Men’s Golf Opens 2008 Season at Cactus Thaw
BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State Billings
men’s golf team will open the 2008 spring schedule at the second
annual Cactus Thaw Intercollegiate Golf Classic this weekend in
Silver City, N.M. Hosted by Western New Mexico, the 36-hole event will take place
on a 6400-yard Silver City Golf Course and will feature 12 men’s
squads.
The men’s team is under the direction of
first year head coach Sean Bowling who inherits seven players
from the 2006-07 squad. Bowling has added the services of junior John Barney and
freshman Paul Johns.
During the fall, the Yellowjackets played at
the Dakota Invitational where MSUB finished third. Individually, senior Tyler Nicholas finished fourth with a 36-hole score of 150 (74-76).
This will be the first trip to Western New
Mexico this season for the Yellowjackets as they will return in
March for the WNMU Invitational, Mar. 17-18.
