Yellowjacket Men’s Golf Finish Cactus Thaw 11th

SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Montana State Billings men’s golf team finished 11^th at the 2008 Cactus Thaw Intercollegiate Golf Classic Sunday afternoon.  The Yellowjackets carded a second round team score of 324 for a 36-hole score of 647 on the 6400-yard, par 71 Silver City Golf Course.  Host Western New Mexico won the tournament with a 36-hole score of 571.

WNMU’s Marcus Molina took home medalist honors, firing a 72 in the final round to go along with a 67 for a three-under 139.  Arizona “B” team member Mark Lamb was second with a one-under 141.  Junior Michael Konrad led the Yellowjackets with a 12-over 154 (75 – 79) good for a tie for 24^th.   

In addition to Konrad, Jeff Allen finished tied for 57^th with a pair of 82’s for the tournament.  Tyler Nicholas also finished tied for 57^th, firing an 83 in the second round (81 – 83).   Jason Kinsey was 59^th with a 165 score (85 – 80) and Mike Watson was 61^st carding a 168 (85 – 83).   

The Yellowjackets return home with just over a month to prepare to go back to WNMU for the WNMU Invitational, Mar. 17-18.
