Women’s Basketball Inks Idaho Product
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings women’s basketball coach Kevin Woodin announced Wednesday that Callie Kautzmann will play basketball for the Yellowjackets beginning this fall.
“I am very excited to have Callie join our team,” Woodin said. “She is a very talented and versatile athlete and I believe she will be a tremendous player at MSUB.”
Kautzmann is a 5’10” wing player from Boise, Idaho who played at Vallivue High School in Caldwell, Idaho, where she helped lead her team to the 5A district championship and a state runner-up finish this past season.
She averaged 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists as a senior, as well as shooting 48 percent from the field, 31 percent from beyond the arc and 70 percent from the line. Kautzmann was a four-year starter and a honorable mention all-conference selection this past season and was second team all-conference and honorable mention all-Idaho as a junior.
As a sophomore, Kautzmann played at Centennial High School in Boise, where she helped lead that school to the state championship and a fourth-place finish at state as a freshman.
In addition, Kautzmann was very active off the court in high school as well. She was in National Honor Society, on the leadership team for her school, named Kiwanis Student of the Month, a leader for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and earned the team academic award.
Her parents, Dewey and Cassie, are graduates of Billings Senior High School and her father played college basketball at Montana State Bozeman. In addition, Callie was born in Sohren, Germany.
Kautzmann joins Kalli Stanhope as the second signee for the women’s basketball team. Stanhope also will play women’s golf for the Yellowjackets.
“I chose MSUB because of the location, strength of the conference and academic programs,” Kautzmann said. “After meeting coach Woodin and the team, it was an instant connection.”
