DICKINSON, ND – The Montana
State-Billings men’s and women’s cross country teams
traveled to North Dakota to take part in the Blue
Hawk Invitational Saturday.
The men’s competition saw the
host team Dickinson State Blue Hawks win with a
combined score of 36. South Dakota School of Mines
recorded 40 points for second place followed by the
Yellowjacket men in third with 57 points. Winning
the individual race with a time of 26:38 was John
Kungu of Dickinson followed by his teammate Bismark
Cheruiyot with 27:52. The top finisher for the
Jackets was Jarred Rensvold (Wolf Point, MT) in fourth
recording a time of 28:06. Matt Roseberry (Chinook, MT) and Joe Kragt (Worden, MT) finish fifth and sixth
respectively with times of 28:18 and 28:26.
The Lady Jackets took top
honors winning the invite by one point over the host
team Blue Hawks with 31 points. Kristal Wolf of
Dickinson won the overall race in a time of 20:20
while Crystal Roseberry (Chinook, MT) and Cierra Dornfeld (Woodbury, MN) placed second and
third recording times of 20:58 and 21:02.
“Both teams ran really well,”
said head coach Dave Coppock. “It was a bit windy
but the rain let up and made for a nice day to run.
I am very happy with the guys and our ladies team
ran short-handed so to get the win was nice for
them.”
The next meet for the
Yellowjackets will be held at the University of
Montana in Missoula Saturday, September 30. The
Jackets will play host to the Heartland Conference
Tournament Saturday, October 21.
