DALLAS, TX – The Yellowjacket
women’s soccer team rebounded from a 1-0 heartbreaking loss to
St. Edward’s on Sunday with a crucial 4-0 win against Dallas
Baptist on Monday. The win bumps the Jacket’s season record up
to 13-5-1 and drops Dallas Baptist to 8-9-0.
The Jackets gained control of
the game early after
Melissa Carlson
(Renton, WA) scored an unassisted goal
just 2:12 into the contest. Both teams continued to battle until
conference point-leader
Ally
Stroup (Ojai, CA) took a pass from
Brittney Sandau (Billings, MT) and
notched MSUB’s second goal at the 47:07 mark. Soon after,
Caitlin Differding (Sammamish, WA)
scored her 3rd goal of the season, which was assisted
by
Danielle Ritter (Great Falls, MT).
Jacket freshman
Jelisa Guy (Kalispell, MT) added a
final score off of a pass from Stroup.
MSUB goalkeeper
Megan Plank (Phoenix, AZ) saw 10
shots and recorded 8 saves. The shutout is Plank’s 10th
of the season, a Yellowjacket season record.
“I thought we looked fantastic
tonight offensively,” said Jacket head coach Don Trentham. “To
have four different people scoring in the game is a great credit
to our players and our team as a whole.”
With the win, this
Yellowjacket women’s soccer team surpassed the 2004 team as the
most successful in Montana State-Billings history. Their
conference title hopes also remain alive and will come down to
Saturday’s home-game against St. Edward’s.
“They came out today and
responded to our loss to St Edward’s. They looked well and won
convincingly. We’re looking forward to the game on Saturday,”
added Trentham. |
