Coach Trentham post game comments
AUSTIN, TX – The Montana
State-Billings women’s soccer team fell in double-overtime to
St. Edward’s University on Sunday, 1-0. After battling through
regulation and the first overtime, St. Edward’s Kristen Gascoyne
scored the game-winner in the 103rd minute. The loss
dropped the Yellowjackets’ season record to 12-5-1 and improved
the conference leading Hilltoppers to 16-2-1.
The Hilltopper defense kept
the Jackets’ shots to a minimum, allowing only 6 shots in the
game. Both of junior
Brittney Sandau’s (Billings, MT)
shots on goal were denied. Sandau was the only Yellowjacket to
fire more than one shot. MSUB goalkeeper
Megan Plank (Phoenix, AZ) saw 15
Hilltopper shots and recorded 3 saves in the game.
“We played well today against
a very good and well coached team,” said MSUB head coach Don
Trentham. “A lot of our players played their best game of
season. It’s a tough loss for us but we’ll look to rebound
tomorrow. With a win against Dallas Baptist tomorrow and a win
against St. Edward’s at home, we’ll have a shot for the
conference title.”
For the Yellowjackets,
Sunday’s match was the second of a three-game road swing in
Texas. Only two regular season games remain with the Jacket’s
scheduled to take on Dallas Baptist University on Monday and
wrap up with a much anticipated meeting with St. Edward’s
at the College of Technology Field on Saturday, October 28.
