Two Lady Jackets Named Player of the Week

BILLINGS, MT – The Montana
State-Billings women’s soccer team continues to have good things
shine upon them.
Brittney Sandau and
Samantha Boehm were named as Heartland Conference Player’s
of the Week for the week of August 28-September 3. This marks
the second week in a row that the Lady Jackets have garnered
honors for both the offensive and defensive award.
Brittney Sandau, a junior
forward from Billings was named the offensive player of the
week. Sandau scored three goals and had four assists to help
lead the
Jackets to a pair of wins. On Saturday, she set a number of
school records in an 11-0 win against Texas-Permian Basin.
Sandau had three goals and three assists for a school record
nine points. Her hat trick was just the fourth in the program’s
history. She scored the first two goals of the game just 30
seconds apart from each other, also a school record. On Sunday
Saudau assisted on the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over
University of Mary. For the season Saudau has four goals, and
six assists for 14 points.
Samantha Boehm, a freshman
defender from Wilsonville, Oregon anchored a
Montana
State-Billings defense that allowed just two shots on goal in a
pair of shutout wins. In Saturday’s 11-0 win against
Texas-Permian Basin, the Yellowjacket defense allowed just one
total shot without a shot on goal. On Sunday the Jackets gave
up only two shots on goal in a 2-0 win against University of
Mary. With their third and fourth shutouts of the season, the
Yellowjacket defense propelled MSU Billings to a 5-0-0 record,
the best five-game start to a season in the program’s 11 year
history. The Yellowjackets’ team GAA is 0.20.
The Yellowjackets head to
Texas for a three-game road trip starting with St. Mary’s
University (1-0-1) on September 9. The Jackets then play at
Texas A&M-International (0-1-0) September 10 followed by
University of the Incarnate Word (3-0-1) September 12. |
