Lady Jacket Soccer Tops NCAA Poll

BILLINGS, MT – The Montana
State-Billings women’s soccer team is ranked first in the NCAA
Midwest Region in the first of four regional rankings released
by the NCAA Women’s Soccer Committee on Wednesday. The top four
teams in each of NCAA Division II’s eight regions in the final
polls of the season on October 30 will receive invitations to
compete in the NCAA Tournament.
The Yellowjackets claimed the
top spot in the poll with an 11-1-0 overall record. Their only
loss of the season came to the University of Montana on
September 22. The top four teams in the Midwest Region this
week are MSUB, Metro State, St. Edward’s and West Texas A&M.
Metro State, who the Jackets face in Denver on Friday, lost last
week for the first time since 2004. The Roadrunners haven’t
lost at home for 56-straight games.
In addition to the official
NCAA poll, MSU Billings is also ranked first in the region by
the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Metro State
is also ranked No. 2 in the coaches’ poll. In the NSCAA’s
national rankings, MSU Billings is ranked eighth and Metro State
is ninth. It is the first top 10 national ranking for the
Jackets in school history.
