Shepherd Golfer to Join Lady Jackets
(6/28/07)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State
University Billings women’s golf coach Jeff Nelson
announced Thursday that Calina Finnicum of Shepherd,
Mont., has signed a national letter of intent to play
for the Yellowjackets. Finnicum graduated in May from
Shepherd High School.
“I believe Calina will be a solid
top five player for MSUB,” said Nelson. “Her golf game
is getting better every year, and college competition
will make her a good tournament player. I am very
excited she is playing here.”
Finnicum lettered four times in
golf at Shepherd. She had three-straight top 15
finishes at the State “B” tournament, placing eighth in
2005, twelfth in 2006, and fourth in 2007. Her top five
finish this season led the Fillies to a runner-up finish
in the team standings. Finnicum posted rounds of 87 and
89 at the state tourney.
Women’s golf is one of three sports
at MSU Billings that will not be a member of the Great
Northwest Athletic Conference. Along with men’s and
women’s tennis, the Lady Jacket golf team will be an
affiliate member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic
Conference for the 2007-2008 season. |
