DENVER, CO – In the first day of
competition at the Regis University Invitational,
the Jacket women are sitting in second place behind Fort
Hays State University. The cold hasn’t seemed to slow
down MSUB’s
Emily Maag (Colstrip, MT), who leads the Jackets after
firing a first-round 81.
Maag’s 41-40 in the first 18 holes
of the 36-hole tournament has her tied for second
overall. The leader, Ft. Hays State’s Dawn Eshaugh, is
just one stroke ahead of Maag with a 41-39-80. Jacket
senior
Halley Montalban (Billings,
MT) is currently sitting in 7th
place overall with her first day total of 42-43-85.
Freshman
Amy
Nordeen’s
(Hamilton, MT) blistering second round of 38 has kept her in
the mix and she is currently placed in a tie for 12th.
Of the five competing teams, the
Jacket’s score of 348 puts them in second, just behind
Fort Hay’s State’s team-total of 332. The par-72,
6,295-hole course is expecting more cold weather
tomorrow and could possibly see some starting delays.
