Jackets’ Carpenter Named Heartland POTW

State-Billings women’s basketball player
Alira Carpenter was named the Heartland Conference Player of
the Week for the week of December 4-10. The honor, Carpenter’s
first for the season, marks the second POTW award overall for
the Lady Jackets.
Carpenter, a sophomore guard
from Lewistown, Montana averaged 21.0 points
per game in leading MSUB to its first consecutive wins of the
year. On December 6, she scored a career-high 28 points in an
80-67 win over Montana State-Northern. She was 10-of-18 from
the field, 3-of-3 from the line, and 5-of-9 from three point
range, also a career-high. In the game against St. Martin’s on
December 9, Carpenter scored 14 points in the 84-68 road win.
She was 6-of-14 from the field and made two 3-pointers. For the
week Carpenter shot 50 percent from the field, 41.2 percent from
behind the arc, and averaged three assists and two steals a
game.
The Lady Jackets host
University of Mary (3-5) Friday, December 15 at Alterowitz
Gymnasium. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. |
