Jackets’ Lieber Receives Heartland Honor

BILLINGS, MT – Montana
State-Billings senior forward
Michelle Lieber was named the Heartland Conference player of
the week for the first week of the 2006-2007 season.
Lieber averaged 16 points and
10.5 rebounds a game in leading Montana State-Billings to a 1-1
record at the Holiday Inn/Chinook Wireless Yellowjacket Classic
on November 17 and 18. The Yellowjackets defeated Western
Oregon 77-62 behind 20 points and 16 rebounds from Lieber.
Lieber scored 12 points and grabbed five boards in a 71-62 loss
to North Dakota, the nation's second-ranked team.
For the week Lieber shot 70.6
percent from the field and 88.9 percent from the free throw
line. She is currently the school record holder for career
field goal percentage with a 65 percent career average. Lieber,
beginning just her third season at MSUB, also became the 27th
player in school history to surpass 700 career points.
The Yellowjackets were idle
last week. They resume play with five games in 12 days starting
with a home game against Rocky Mountain College on Tuesday. Tip
off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Alterowitz Gym, and the game
will be aired on AM 970 in Billings and on the internet at
