Lieber Named to All-Region Team (3/7/07)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana
State-Billings senior
Michelle Lieber has been named to the Daktronics NCAA
Division II South Central Region Second Team that was announced
Wednesday. The 6-foot-0 forward from Gillette, Wyo., is the
Yellowjackets’ first all-region selection since Robyn Milne was
named to the All-West Region Second Team in both 2004 and 2005.
Lieber was also named the 2007
Heartland Conference Player of the Year on Wednesday, an award
she has won for two-straight years. She averaged 16.8 points
and 8.9 rebounds a game this season in leading the Yellowjackets
to a 22-9 overall record. MSUB was 7-3 in the Heartland
Conference to win the HLC regular season crown for the second
year in a row. Last week the Jackets won the Heartland
Conference tournament to earn their tenth trip to the NCAA
Tournament in the last 14 years. It is their eleventh all-time
appearance in the NCAA II Tournament dating back to 1987. MSUB
will play Missouri Western State in the first round on Friday in
St. Joseph, MO.
Lieber was a three-year
starter for the Yellowjackets after transferring from the
University of Wyoming, where she started every game as a true
freshman. In her three seasons as a Yellowjacket, Lieber has
scored 1,089 points and recorded 726 rebounds. She ranks
seventh in school history for career rebounds and seventeenth
for career points. Lieber holds the top three single season
records for field goal percentage at MSUB, and this season she
leads the nation in field goal percentage at 70.3 percent.
