MSUB Volleyball Ranked 2nd in Region (9/27/06)
BILLINGS, MT – The NCAA
Women’s Volleyball Committee released its first Division II
regional polls of the year on Wednesday. Montana State-Billings
was ranked second in the Southwest Region, trailing only Fort
Lewis College.
The Yellowjackets are 13-3
overall and on a school-record nine-match winning streak. The
winning streak started with a 3-2 upset of Fort Lewis on the
Skyhawks’ home court on September 2. Fort Lewis and
MSU Billings have split their two meetings this year.
The No. 2 regional ranking is
by far the highest in the history of volleyball at
MSU Billings. The Yellowjackets were ranked fifth for one week
last year, the first and only time in school history
MSU Billings has appeared in the regional rankings prior to
Wednesday. The top eight teams in each of the NCAA’s eight
regions qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
MSU Billings hosts Texas
A&M-International (11-3) in two non-conference matches on Friday
and Saturday. Both matches start at 7:00 p.m. at Alterowitz
Gym.
