Jacket Softball Hires Assistant
(8/29/06)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana
State-Billings softball coach Kim Lemmens announced this
week that she has hired Cori Thiermann as the
Yellowjackets’ assistant coach. Lemmens is beginning
her first year as the Yellowjacket head coach.
Thiermann is a 2006 graduate of
University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where she was a double
major in Public Administration and Business
Administration. She was on the dean’s list throughout
college and graduated Cum Laude. Thiermann also
received a Coaching Certification with an emphasis in
Sports Administration and Management.
Thiermann was a varsity letter
winner at UW-Green Bay from 2002 to 2005. Last year she
was a student assistant coach at UW-Green Bay. As a
senior Thiermann batted .224 in 31 games to help the
Phoenix win the Horizon League title and advance to the
NCAA Division I Tournament for the first time in school
history. UW-Green Bay upset sixth-ranked Oregon State
in the first round of that tournament for its first-ever
win over a ranked opponent.
“Cori has proven playing and
coaching ability at the Division I level,” said
Lemmens. “She will be a positive asset for our
student-athletes and will do a great job promoting our
program. Cori is energetic, driven, and continually
striving toward excellence. She will bring that desire
to MSU Billings to help make this a championship
program.”
Thiermann will begin her duties at
MSU Billings immediately. The Yellowjackets’ fall
schedule begins September 23 and 24 at the Triple Crown
Sports Fall Classic in Fort Collins, CO. |
