Coach McNally post game audio
SAN ANTONIO, TX – The Montana
State-Billings men’s soccer team dropped its second straight
game on the road Sunday falling 2-0 to St. Mary’s University in
San Antonio, Texas. The Yellowjackets fall to 4-9-2 overall,
while the Rattlers improved to 4-6-2.
“This was our worst
performance of the year,” said Yellowjacket head coach Dan
McNally. “We started a lot of freshmen and sophomores and it
looked like we did. Today was just not our day from start to
finish.”
Two goals in the first 27
minutes of play was enough for St. Mary’s to take the win even
though the Yellowjackets controlled the ball much of the game.
MSUB narrowly missed two key shots in the game. One hit the
post after a header and the other caromed off the crossbar
denying the Jackets’ goals that would have kept them in the
game.
The Rattlers’ Carlos Becerra
scored an unassisted goal at 13:53 putting St. Mary’s on the
board. Just 13 minutes later Jonathan Gray crossed the ball to
the middle of the field where Raul Davila made contact to head
the ball past the Jackets’ keeper giving the Rattlers the 2-0
lead that they never relinquished.
The Yellowjackets were
out-shot 17-9, including St. Mary’s 7-5 shots on goal
advantage.
Sander Tollefson (Missoula, MT) made four saves in the game
while the Rattlers’ Brett Collier recorded five.
The Yellowjackets will play
their final game of three on the road against St. Edward’s
University (5-4-4) on Tuesday in Austin. Kickoff is set for
4:00 p.m. MST. |
