ODESSA, TX – The Montana
State-Billings men’s soccer team lost a close game to University
of Texas – Permian Basin falling 1-0 Sunday in Odessa, Texas.
The Yellowjackets are now 1-6-2 overall while today’s win
improved the Falcons to 4-5-0. The Jackets will play a neutral
game at Permian Basin against College of the Southwest September
26 before returning to Billings.
Both the Jackets and the
Falcons posted seven shots on goal a piece with the Falcons’
Josh Steward making the only goal of the game on an assist by
Carlos Guillen. The lone goal came at the 20:26 mark of the
first half.
“The first half we came out
flat and didn’t perform well,” said head coach Dan McNally. “We
made some changes in the second and played well overall. Our
confidence has been hurt a little bit over our last four
performances so we need to figure out what we are doing wrong
and in the game against College of the Southwest we need to come
out and take our scoring chances.”
The Yellowjackets were
out-shot 21-15 with six different Jackets recording
shots-on-goal. Keeper
Sander Tollefson (Missoula, MT) made six saves in the game
while the Falcons’ keeper Gage Peterson made seven.
Following Tuesday’s game
against NAIA opponent College of the Southwest, the
Yellowjackets will return to the College of Technology Field for
a re-match against Colorado Christian University (0-8-1). Kick
off is 1:00 p.m. |
