LAKEWOOD, CO – In as many
games, the Montana State-Billings men’s soccer team waited out a
lightning delay and played through 110 minutes to settle for a
1-1 tie against Colorado Christian Saturday in Lakewood,
Colorado. The Yellowjackets are now 0-0-2 overall. The Cougars
are 0-1-1 on their season.
The Jackets out-shot the
Cougars 17 to 12 with seven shots on goal to Colorado Christian's
six. Sander Tollefson (Missoula, MT) posted five saves allowing
just one goal. That goal came from the Cougars’ Tim Lowe five
minutes into the second half. Mitchell Harty picked up the
assist. The Jackets’
Sam
Charles (Chiswell, England) scored his first collegiate goal
on a penalty kick in the 78th minute, tying the game
at one apiece. The teams remained scoreless over the next 32
minutes resulting in a 1-1 final score following double
overtime.
“We created lots of chances
and we deserved to win today,” said head coach Dan McNally.
“The guys played well and we are focused on our game against
Regis University on Monday.”
The Yellowjackets will play
their final game of the three-game road trip against Regis
University Monday, August 28 in Denver. The Jackets then return
home for nearly a month hosting Heartland Conference opponent
University of the Incarnate Word on September 1 and St. Mary’s
University on September 3. |
