Jackets' Tollefson Named Player of
the Week (8/30/06)
BILLINGS, MT – The Montana
State-Billings men’s soccer program earned its first Player of
the Week award for the 2006 season. Goalkeeper
Sander Tollefson was named as the Heartland Conference
Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the week of August 21-27.
Tollefson, a freshman from
Missoula, Montana posted a good showing in his first two
collegiate soccer games of the year. The Yellowjackets traveled
to Colorado to open the season on the road. Tollefson was the
anchor of the Jackets
defense allowing just one goal in two games against in-region
opponents. In the game against Colorado State-Pueblo, Tollefson
made seven saves including one in overtime to end the game in a
0-0 tie. In the game against Colorado Christian, Tollefson made
five saves going the distance in double overtime to end 1-1.
For the weekend, Tollefson had a 149:59 shutout minutes stretch,
posted 12 saves and had a 0.43 goals against average.
The Yellowjackets will host
four games over the next three weeks starting with Heartland
Conference opponents University of the Incarnate Word (1-0-0) on
September 1 followed by St. Mary’s University (1-0-1) on
September 3. Friday’s game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. while
Sunday’s game is set for 11:00 a.m. at College of Technology
Field. |
