Jacket Golfers Close Out Fall Season at St. Mary’s

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Play was
concluded at the St. Mary’s Invitational on Tuesday as
the Yellowjacket men’s golf team finished their second
and third rounds. The team started the day in 18th
and slipped to 19th to finish the tournament.
Texas A&M University took top honors with their
three-day total of 862.
The Jackets improved from their
first round score of 314 with a second round of 310 and
final round of 312. Sophomore
Mike Rider again led the
Jackets with a team-low total of 12-over 225 for the
tournament. Rider placed in a tie for 39th
overall while junior
Zach Abels’ rounds of 76-73-81 put
him in a tie for 60th. Rounding out MSUB
scorecards were
Nathan Redfern with 242,
Michael Konrad
244, and
Jason Kinsey 245. The low score for the
tournament was St. Edward’s Nick Cristea, who fired a
208. Cristea finished six strokes ahead of his nearest
competitor and was the only player to shoot under par
for the tournament.
With the completion of play
Tuesday, the Yellowjacket men wrap up their 2006 fall
season. The Jackets will return to action this spring.
