Jacket Golfers Open Season

TUMWATER, WA – The first action of
the 2006 men’s golf season was played on Friday and
Saturday at the St. Martin’s Invitational Tournament.
Mike Rider highlighted Yellowjacket play as the team
placed seventh.
The ten-team field took on the
7,154 yard course, and Grand Canyon University emerged
with the tournament victory shooting 881 as a team. The
Jackets notched a score of 921 with Rider, who began the
tournament with two rounds of 76, closing with a 75 for
a 227 total. Zach Abels and Jason Kinsey both finished
with a seven-over 230. Donald Zamba of Grand Canyon
University stood alone with the low score of the
tournament at 216.
The Yellowjackets will again be in
action for the two-day Western Washington Invitational
starting September 25th. Other members of the
Yellowjacket men’s team will compete in Billings at the
Rocky Invitational, which is also held the 25th
and 26th.
