Jackets Host Rocky in Exhibition on RBC Kid$wish Night
(11/13/06)
BILLINGS, MT – The Montana
State-Billings men’s basketball team will wrap up its preseason
with an exhibition game against Rocky Mountain College on
Tuesday. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Alterowitz Gym.
The Bears knocked off the
Yellowjackets in an exhibition game last week, winning 99-94 at
Rocky’s Fortin Center. The Jackets trailed by double digits in
the first half before rallying to lead much of the second half.
Freshman guard Jeff Miner (Gresham, OR) scored a game-high 28
points, hitting seven 3-pointers. The Yellowjackets defeated an
MSUB alumni team 112-71 on Saturday.
Tuesday’s game will be the
final exhibition of the preseason for the Yellowjackets. They
begin regular season play at the Northwest Nazarene Tournament
on December 1 and 2 in Nampa, ID. The Jackets’ home opener will
be December 16 against West Liberty State.
RBC Dain Rauscher will sponsor
Kid$wish, a charity event to be held during halftime of the
Yellowjackets/Bears game on Tuesday. According to Bill Tierney,
branch director for RBC Dain Rauscher in Billings, Kid$wish
will allow area students, grades 3-8, to raise money for the
Yellowstone Art Center Foundation and Shriners’ Hospitals for
Children. Children participating in Kid$wish will shoot as many
free throws as possible in five-minute intervals. With each
basket made, RBC Dain Rauscher will make a monetary contribution
to the child’s designated charity, either the Yellowstone Art
Center Foundation or the Shriners’ Hospitals for Children.
Prior to the game, the children will be treated to a pizza
party.
“We’re excited to be a part of
such a great event,” said Tierney. “The whole idea is to get
kids helping kids and to realize the positive impact that they
can have in the lives of others.”
