Jackets’ D’Amore Garners Heartland Honor

Tom D’Amore has been named Heartland Conference Player of
the Week for the week of February 12-18. The award is D’Amore’s
first, and the program’s second this season.
The sophomore from Tucson,
Arizona scored 27 points and knocked down a
career-high eight 3-pointers in just 17 minutes of action to
lead the Yellowjackets to a 111-61 win over Texas – Permian
Basin Saturday at Alterowitz Gym. It was the first time the
Jackets have eclipsed the century mark this season. D’Amore was
8-of-14 from the field and 8-of-13 from behind the arc. He also
connected on all three of his free throw attempts in the game.
Seven of D’Amore’s 3-pointers came in a span of 4:38 late in the
second half. He was 7-of-8 from long range during that four and
a half minute scoring barrage.
The Yellowjackets host Dallas
Baptist University in a non-conference game Tuesday, February 20
at Alterowitz. Tip off is set for 7:00 p.m. It will be the
final home game of the season and Senior Night for Jonathan
Wiley and Cody Samuelson. |
