Jackets’ Harknell Earns POTW Award
(12/20/06)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana
State-Billings men’s basketball player
Ammar Harknell was named Heartland Conference Player of the
Week for the week of December 11-17. The award is the first
this season for both the men’s basketball program and Harknell.
Harknell, a junior transfer
from Maine, came off the bench to record a double-double
in a 103-85 loss to West Liberty State last week. West Liberty
was the top scoring team in NCAA Division II last year. In just
23 minutes on the court, Harknell scored 15 points and grabbed
13 rebounds, both career highs. He was 5-of-11 from the field,
3-of-5 from 3-point range, and 2-of-2 from the free throw line.
His three 3-pointers were also a career high and he had a
blocked shot in the game. Entering the game last week, Harknell
had a combined 14 points and nine rebounds in the season’s first
four games.
The Yellowjackets host
Northwest Nazarene (3-6) December 20 and 21 at Alterowitz Gym.
This will be the second meeting between these two teams this
season. The Jackets were defeated by the Crusaders in Nampa
earlier this year. Tip off for the game is scheduled for 7:00
p.m. both nights. |
