Wiley Named to Academic Team (2/8/07)

State-Billings men’s basketball player
Jonathan Wiley has been named to the ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-District VII Second Team by the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Wiley is a senior
from Westlake Village, Calif.
Wiley has a 3.94 cumulative
grade point average in business. He has posted a 4.00 GPA in
five of his seven semesters at MSU Billings. In the past year,
Wiley completed internships with Piper Jaffrey and Global
Village for Future Business Leaders. In the Global Village
internship, which included students from around the world, Wiley
was one of five selected to participate from the United States.
He has also participated in Japan Business Exchange, Habitat for
Humanity, and CAPSIM Business Simulation and is the president of
the MSU Billings Investment Club.
This is the second time Wiley
has been selected to the CoSIDA All-Academic Team. He was an
All-District VII First Team member last year. Wiley leads the
Yellowjackets in rebounding and is second on the team for
scoring. He averages 13.3 points and 5.9 rebounds a game.
Wiley currently ranks fourth in the Heartland Conference for
free throw percentage, seventh for scoring average, seventh for
rebounding, eleventh for field goal percentage, thirteenth for
assists, and fourth for minutes played per game.
The CoSIDA Academic
All-America program divides the country into eight districts.
Schools from Montana are part of District VII, which also
includes Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North
Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Nominees for the All-District VII Men’s Basketball Team could
come from any Division II, Division III, or NAIA school in any
of those states. Sports Information Directors from each
district nominate and vote for the academic teams. |
