Jacket Harriers End Season at Regional (11/5/05)

ABILENE, TX – The Montana State-Billings cross-country teams wrapped up their seasons Saturday at the NCAA South Central Regional hosted by Abilene Christian University.  The Yellowjacket men finished fourteenth in the 15-team race while the Lady Jackets finished thirteenth out of 18 teams.

Sam Hartpence (Jr., Custer, SD) led the Yellowjacket men with a 10K time of 36:57.  He placed 57^th overall.  Matt Roseberry (So., Chinook, MT) placed 74^th in a time of 38:13.  The Yellowjackets’ scoring runners also included Jared Rensvold (So., Wolf Point, MT) in 84^th (40:59), Abram Hagstrom (Fr., Billings, MT) in 87^th (41:39), and Andy Zoeller (So., Billings, MT) in 90^th (42:48).  Joe Kragt (Jr., Billings, MT) started the race but did not finish because of injury.

The Yellowjacket women were paced by Susan Kocab (Fr., Billings, MT) who finished in 51^st place.  She covered the 6K course in 25:23.  Cierra Dornfeld (Fr., Woodbury, MN) was close behind in 57^th with a time of 25:45.  The Lady Jackets’ scorers were rounded out by Tiffany Piplica (Jr., Riverton, WY) in 75^th place (26:51), Tracie Overberg (Sr., Dodson, MT) in 81^st place (27:01), and Kym Island (Fr., Columbia Falls, MT) in 95^th place (27:47).

Fourth-ranked Abilene Christian won the men’s team race.  Defending national champion Nicodemus Naimadu from Abilene Christian captured top individual honors in 31:13.  Central Missouri, ranked 22^nd nationally, won the women’s team race.  Abilene Christian’s Trina Cox won the individual race in 21:49.
