Leads Jackets at Shootout (10/1/05)
BOULDER, CO – Susan Kocab
placed in the top 40 at Saturday’s Rocky Mountain
Shootout hosted by defending Division I national
champion University of Colorado. Kocab finished the
5.8K race in 24:35, good for 38th place.
The race featured the
top-ranked men’s and women’s teams from Division I
(Colorado) and Division II (Adams State).
Colorado’s Christine Bolf took top individual honors
in the women’s race, winning in 20:53. Adams State
won the non-Division I women’s race behind Emily
Mortensen’s third place finish in 21:16. The men’s
individual winner was Colorado’s Bret Schoolmeester,
who covered the 8K course in 24:55. Adams State
also won the men’s team race.
Kocab (Fr., Billings, MT)
bounced back from an illness that slowed her two
weeks ago at the MSU-Bozeman invitational for a
strong showing Saturday. She was followed by Cierra
Dornfeld (Fr., Woodbury, MN) in 68th place in a time of 26:01. Rounding out the Lady
Jackets’ scoring runners were Tiffany Piplica (Jr.,
Riverton, WY) in 79th place (27:01),
Tracie Overberg (Sr., Dodson, MT) in 81st place (27:05), and Kym Island (Fr., Columbia Falls,
MT) in 88th place (29:00). Also running
for the Yellowjackets were Kisa Kron (So.,
Livingston, MT) in 89th place (29:14),
Kristy Burns (Jr., Livingston, MT) in 92nd place (29:40), Erin Gannon (Fr., Yankton, SD) in 96th place (31:01), and Colleen Dalimata (So., Columbia
Falls, MT) in 97th place (31:09).
The Yellowjacket men were paced
by Sam Hartpence (Jr., Custer, SD) who placed 61st.
He finished the 8K race in 29:25. Joining Hartpence
in the Jackets’ scoring lineup were Matt Roseberry
(So., Chinook, MT) in 94th place (30:53),
Jared Rensvold (So., Wolf Point, MT) in 108th place (32:06), Joe Kragt (Jr., Worden, MT) in 112th place (32:46), and Andy Zoeller (So., Billings, MT)
in 115th place (33:06).
The Yellowjackets next run at
the Idaho State Invitational on October 8 in
Pocatello.
