Hartpence Pace Jacket Harriers (9/10/05)
RAPID CITY, SD – Susan Kocab and Sam Hartpence each posted top 10 finishes at the
South Dakota Tech Invitational Saturday to lead the
Montana State-Billings cross-country teams.
Kocab, a freshman from
Billings, finished the 5K course in 21:38 to place
sixth in the women’s race. Black Hills State
runners captured the top five places and the team
title. BHSU’s Liz Woodruff won the race in 20:47.
Rounding out the Lady Jackets’ scoring runners were Tracie Overberg (Sr., Dodson, MT) in 12th place in 23:50, Cierra Dornfeld (Fr., Woodbury, MN) in 13th place in 23:56, Tiffany Piplica (Jr., Riverton, WY) in 14th place in 24:11, and Diana Davis (Sr., Kalispell, MT) in 15th place in 24:19.
MSU Billings had nine runners
in the women’s race. Also competing were Kym Island (Fr., Columbia Falls, MT) in 18th place in 24:55, Kristy Burns (Jr., Livingston, MT) in 20th place in 25:04, Erin Gannon (Fr., Yankton, SD) in 22nd place in 26:21, and Kisa Kron (So., Livingston, MT) in 23rd place in 26:50.
Hartpence, a junior from
Custer, SD, placed eighth in the men’s 8K in a time
of 30:22. Black Hills won the team race led by Luke
Watkins’ first place finish in 28:42. The
Yellowjackets ran five runners in the race. Matt Roseberry (So., Chinook, MT) finished 13th in 31:22, Joe Kragt (Jr., Worden, MT) placed 20th in 32:53, Jared Rensvold (So., Wolf Point, MT) placed 21st in 34:03, and Andy Zoeller (So., Billings, MT) finished 23rd in 35:16.
The Yellowjackets’ next race
will be Friday, September 16 at the Dickinson State
Invitational.
